Chef/Cook – Immediate Start

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef/Cook to join our dedicated team.

This role will initially be offered on a casual basis, with the opportunity to transition to full-time employment upon successful completion of the probationary period.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals in accordance with individual dietary requirements and plating guidelines.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of special diets including allergies/intolerances, supplements, texture-modified meals, soft diets, and purees.

  • Assist with menu planning and recipe development.

  • Manage stocktaking, ordering, and kitchen costing to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

  • Maintain supplier relationships and assist with supplier management.

  • Ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques in accordance with food safety legislation.

  • Follow cleaning schedules, complete required documentation, and participate in regular audits.

  • Supervise kitchen staff and support a positive team environment.

  • Ensure all kitchen staff comply with company policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Maintain high standards across all aspects of kitchen operations.

  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality policies are strictly adhered to, with resident information only provided externally by authorised management.

  • Participate in company meetings, training sessions, reviews, and special projects as required.

  • Undertake additional duties as directed from time to time.

Essential Criteria

  • TAFE Statement of Attainment in Food Handling Supervision

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Commercial cooking experience in any sector

  • NDIS Worker Clearance

  • Current COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations

  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable Criteria

  • Certificate II in Kitchen Operations and/or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

  • Experience cooking for large groups within aged care, disability, or childcare settings

Hours

Shifts are rostered between 7:00am and 6:30pm, across 4–5 days per week.

Applicants must be available for flexible start and finish times within these hours.
