Leading Hand Carpenter – Mining & Civil Construction | Immediate Start

About the Role

Sheppard Mining Contracting is experiencing significant growth across multiple divisions, creating exciting opportunities for skilled tradespeople to join our team. Due to continued growth within our Civil Division, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand Carpenter to help deliver a diverse range of mining and civil projects throughout the Goldfields.

We're looking for a skilled Civils Carpenter who can lead from the front, take pride in quality workmanship, and help drive our continued growth.

Based in Kalgoorlie, this is a full-time residential position offering a family-friendly 5:2 roster. You'll lead a small crew while remaining hands-on in the delivery of quality construction works, working closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of tradespeople and labourers

• Proven ability to run jobs from start to finish, including coordinating labour, materials, subcontractors and project schedules

• Complete carpentry works including formwork, framing, structural and general construction works

• Read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications

• Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard

• Maintain site safety compliance and company procedures

• Liaise with Supervisors, Project Managers and clients as required

• Monitor productivity and quality outcomes across projects

About You

• Trade qualified Carpenter

• Previous experience in a Leading Hand or supervisory role

• Strong background in mining and civil construction projects

• Ability to lead by example and motivate a team

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Essential Requirements

• Current Australian Driver's Licence

• Construction White Card

• Mining & Civil Construction Experience

• National Police Clearance (or ability to obtain)

• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen

Highly Regarded

• HR Driver's Licence
