Refrigeration / Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Refrigeration / Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong HVAC and refrigeration design experience who is passionate about designing innovative, energy-efficient industrial solutions.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the design, engineering, and technical delivery of HVAC and refrigeration systems, with a strong focus on air handling units (AHUs), and water chillers. Working closely with project teams, clients, consultants, manufacturing, and purchasing, you will ensure designs are technically sound, compliant, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Design Water Chillers, AHUs, and HVAC systems for a unique set of customers.
Complete refrigeration engineering calculations, heat load calculations, ductwork design, equipment selection, and system specifications.
Develop P&IDs, technical documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Draft with Solidworks 2026.
Ensure compliance with the NCC, Australian Standards, and project-specific requirements.
Coordinate with electrical and mechanical disciplines.
Provide technical support during project delivery, commissioning, and post-sale activities.
Support business development activities through technical input for quotations and proposals.
Work closely with purchasing and manufacturing teams to optimise design outcomes and project costs.
Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years' experience in HVAC and refrigeration design.
Strong experience in chilled water systems, HVACs, and AHUs.
Sound understanding of HVAC load calculations, ductwork design, equipment selection, and system coordination.
Experience delivering projects within commercial, industrial, or hazardous environments.
Proficient in Solidworks.
Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and budget performance.
