Our signature product is a 3 cylinder radial engine, exported to Meyers Manx in California. This radial has been celebrated on the cover of Race Engine Technology, displayed at the OSHKOSH air show and seen on Jay Leno's garage.

About the role

Bespoke Engineering is seeking an energetic, and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Lonsdale, South Australia. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a important role in the design and development across a range of projects - our focus is ICE engine design/hybrid systems and their integration into platforms.

We are casting a wide net for this role - you may be anywhere in your career from a final year undergrad who can work 2-3 days per week or an accomplished master with a lifetime of experience. In either case this is a direct hands on engineering role where projects are taken from conception to completion onsite at Lonsdale.

We seek intelligence, energy , initiative and the ability to get stuff done as part of the team. This is not a role for the faint hearted!

Experience with engines and powertrains is advantageous but not essential for this role.

Candidates must possess full Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.

What you'll be doing

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and components such as oil pumps, engine components and chassis components

• Conduct research, testing, and evaluation to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems

• Produce engineering drawings for both internal and external production processes

• Write design documentation and report on outcomes from engineering activities

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues, providing technical support to production teams

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes

• Working with a small team of likeminded experienced engineers, fostering a culture of curiosity, continuous learning and business practice improvements

What we're looking for

• A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field

• A team member who can work across multiple internal and external projects, has a good mechanical aptitude and able to work in a highly agile environment.

• Knowledge of PDM and ERP systems

• Proficient in the use of CAD software, such as Onshape/SolidWorks/Inventor for design and drafting

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

• Experience with ICE engines and/or electric motors desirable

• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices

• Demonstrated experience in time management and the ability to work under tight deadlines
