THE ROLE

Join our team as a Principal Mechanical & Structural Engineer on a permanent full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Mechanical & Structural Engineering discipline, providing technical direction, mentoring a high-performing team, and driving project success including international contracts while ensuring design excellence and regulatory compliance.

Duties include but not limited to;

  • Provide expert design input for mine processing plants and underground infrastructure (including de-watering and mechanical services)
  • Perform and oversee mechanical calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure design integrity and compliance
  • Lead projects from concept to delivery, managing resources, timelines, budgets, and deliverables
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Mentor and develop the mechanical engineering team; foster a high-performing and collaborative culture
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and engaging with clients
  • Maintain strong client relationships and drive successful outcomes on domestic and international contracts
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and company standards
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and tender submissions
  • Review vendor documentation and perform system modelling using engineering software

THE PERSON

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in engineering consultancy or equipment, piping, process, and mining-related design
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Australian recognised Mechanical Engineering degree that satisfies the entry requirements for Chartered membership with Engineers Australia
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional teamwork and client engagement
  • Sound working knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals including load analysis, structural systems & relevant codes and standards.
  • Proven project coordination and time management abilities across multiple deadlines
  • Proficient in Solidworks and AutoCAD for structural analysis and design in heavy industry
  • Detail-oriented with excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Proficient in structural analysis software such as SpaceGass or Strand7 is highly desirable 
  • Willingness and ability to undertake travel as required to meet Project needs
