Join Our Kitchen Crew in Dunsborough!
We’re seeking a Sous Chef who’s all about flavour, teamwork, and fresh local produce. Someone who can bring solid skills to the pass, but also a bit of spark and curiosity to what we do every day.
At Wayfinder, we’re a young and growing wine bar and restaurant in the heart of Dunsborough – built around good food, good wine, and a strong sense of place. We’ve become a local favourite for relaxed, thoughtful dining.
We’re looking for a Sous Chef who’s keen to grow with us on a permanent, full time basis in our next chapter, as we open a second venue, and work to create a collaborative kitchen across both venues.
What we offer:
$80-$90k, based on experience
Permanent, full time position
Flexible roster to support work/life balance
A creative kitchen that values technique, ideas and input
Access to our farm garden (harvest to plate), plus our prep kitchen at our new venue at The Farm
A collaborative team culture grounded in respect, care and curiosity, with the opportunity to build a strong connection across our two venues and kitchens
Opportunity to develop your own style and influence the menu
About the Role:
In this role, you will:
Ensure consistent execution of food quality, presentation, and service standards during day-to-day operations.
Support delivery of menus designed by the Head Chef, ensuring dishes are prepared and plated as intended.
Supervise kitchen team during prep and service, providing clear direction and support
Support sustainable kitchen practices through waste reduction and effective use of ingredients
Ensure compliance with all Food Safety, Health, and Workplace Safety regulations
Both the Dunsborough wine bar and the winery restaurant will be supported by our Prep Kitchen located at The Farm, at our new venue. This space will become the backbone of the wider food program, housing our fermentation and pickling projects, baking operations, preparation of produce harvested from the gardens, and the breakdown of lamb and other farm produce.
The two venues will share shifts across the Prep Kitchen, allowing team members a change of environment, more flexibility in work structure, and valuable cross-training opportunities. The intention is to create a collaborative kitchen culture that encourages continual learning, skill development, and a stronger connection between The Farm, the produce, and the venues themselves.
About You:
You’re a senior chef, who is experienced, curious and unafraid to bring ideas to the pass. You work well under pressure, take pride in presentation, and love collaborating with a team that genuinely cares.
3+ years experience in a commercial kitchen
Strong understanding of food prep, timing, plating and service delivery
A flair for the art of food and wine pairing
A creative eye and passion for high-quality food with a seasonal focus
Calm, reliable and focused, especially during busy services
Proactive approach to maintaining standards, cleanliness and safety
Positive communicator who’s open to feedback and loves sharing knowledge
You enjoy being part of a team and value collaboration and care in service
You want to live and work in a region surrounded by nature, good food, and great people
Willing to work at our Prep Kitchen at The Farm for prep shifts as needed
