Service Chef

As one of our valued team member is taking a period of leave, we are seeking a passionate and motivated Service Chef to join our team and provide vital support across our kitchen operations, and potentially within our rooms, depending on the candidates qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing nutritionally balanced meals and snacks for each child in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring they align with the service's routines and dietary needs.

• Adhering to all food safety protocols in accordance with company Health and Safety policies, and ensuring the kitchen, utensils, and crockery are consistently clean, organised, and well-maintained.

• Ensuring each child's dietary needs, allergy requirements, and preferences are fully accommodated and supported.

• Fostering positive meal time experiences by educating children on the food being consumed and promoting healthy eating habits.

• Actively supervising children during cooking experiences and taking all necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well being.

• Building and maintaining respectful and professional relationships with both families and children, while actively encouraging feedback and involvement in the meal planning and selection process.

Skills/Qualifications:

• ⁠This position requires a Food Handling/Food Safety Certificate. 

• A Certificate II OR Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is desirable. 

• Current First Aid and CPR certificate is a must. 

• Must hold a valid working with children's check.

• Previous experience in a Service Chef role or a similar position.

• ⁠Demonstrate strong understanding of allergens and the food safety guidelines.

• ⁠Understanding of the Reggio Emilia philosophy is desirable but not essential.

• Positive and optimistic outlook, friendly disposition and a great team player.

• ⁠Passionate about the Early Childhood Sector and an advocate for children.

• Ability to build strong relationships with fellow Educators, the children and the families.
