About the Role

We’re looking for a Full-Time Commis Chef to join our fast-paced à la carte restaurant, renowned for its quality dishes and exceptional service.

Songbirds serves lunch and dinner daily from 11:30am to 8:00pm (9:00pm on weekends). You’ll work a 4-day week (38 hours across 4 days) and get paid for every hour you work, giving you a great work-life balance while being part of a creative, supportive kitchen team.

Your Day Will Include:

• Working in a designated section as directed by the Head Chef

• Supporting and mentoring apprentice chefs in their development

• Preparing ingredients and mise en place for upcoming service periods

• Contributing creative ideas and specials to showcase your culinary flair

• Maintaining a clean and organised work area while upholding food safety standards

• Assisting with monthly stocktakes and kitchen organisation

What You'll Bring

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)

• Proven experience in a commercial kitchen

• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment

• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

• Passion for great food and attention to detail

• Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills

• A positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to learn
