The Sands Social’s Songbirds Restaurant has become one of the Northside’s favourite dining destinations. Warm, welcoming, and full of flavour, it’s a place where everyone can find something to love on the menu.

We’re looking for a Full-Time Commis Chef to join our fast-paced à la carte restaurant, renowned for its quality dishes and exceptional service.
Songbirds serves lunch and dinner daily from 11:30am to 8:00pm (9:00pm on weekends). You’ll work a 4-day week (38 hours across 4 days) and get paid for every hour you work, giving you a great work-life balance while being part of a creative, supportive kitchen team.
Working in a designated section as directed by the Head Chef
Supporting and mentoring apprentice chefs in their development
Preparing ingredients and mise en place for upcoming service periods
Contributing creative ideas and specials to showcase your culinary flair
Maintaining a clean and organised work area while upholding food safety standards
Assisting with monthly stocktakes and kitchen organisation
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
Proven experience in a commercial kitchen
Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Passion for great food and attention to detail
Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills
A positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to learn
4-day working week (4 x 9.5-hour days)
