About the role

Are you a passionate and experienced sous chef looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills? Chancery Lane Bistro', a renowned restaurant in the heart of Melbourne, is seeking a talented sous chef to join our dynamic team. This full-time role will see you collaborate closely with the head chef to oversee the kitchen operations and ensure the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our customers.

What you'll be doing

1. Assisting the head chef in menu development, recipe creation, and the execution of innovative dishes

2. Managing and coordinating the kitchen team to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and timely delivery

3. Implementing efficient kitchen workflows and procedures to optimise productivity and minimise waste

4. Overseeing the ordering, receiving, and storage of all ingredients and supplies

5. Providing mentorship and training to junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and culinary expertise

6. Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations within the kitchen environment

What we're looking for

1. Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a sous chef or in a similar senior culinary role

2. Formal qualifications in culinary arts or a relevant field

3. Solid knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards

4. Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team

5. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

6. Passion for creating innovative and visually appealing dishes

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
