About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and energetic full-time Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team in Sydney. In this hands-on role, you will take ownership of a dedicated section of the kitchen, showcasing your refined culinary skills and contributing heavily to our menu execution. You will work closely with our leadership team to maintain exceptional quality control, manage day-to-day kitchen operations efficiently, and foster a collaborative team environment.
Salary & Benefits
Base Salary: $76,515 – $81,000 per annum (commensurate with experience) + Superannuation

What You Will Be Doing
Food Preparation & Execution: Prepare, cook, and present a variety of high-quality Japanese fusion menu items to our premium, consistent standards.
Section Responsibility: Organise, prep, and take full responsibility for your designated kitchen section to ensure efficient, streamlined operations during peak service hours.
Operational Control: Order foodstuffs, raw ingredients, and kitchen supplies; meticulously check incoming deliveries for exact quantity and premium quality.
Kitchen Management: Estimate and set precise portion sizes to manage food costs, and assist with planning fair, efficient staff rosters.
Team Leadership: Train, mentor, and guide junior kitchen staff and apprentices to maintain high standards of kitchen safety and food execution.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all Australian food safety standards, workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations, and commercial hygiene legislation.
Menu Collaboration: Assist the Head Chef in regular menu development, seasonal adjustments, and kitchen implementation strategies.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV in Kitchen Management / Commercial Cookery) and/or proven equivalent industry experience in a high-volume professional kitchen.
Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of consistent experience working as a Chef or Cook in a fast-paced environment (prior experience with premium Japanese cuisine, sushi, or fusion techniques is highly advantageous).
Technical Skills: Exceptional knife skills, a strong track record of consistent dish presentation, and precise attention to detail.
Core Competencies: Excellent multitasking, time-management, and organizational skills.
Teamwork: A proactive, reliable team player who thrives under pressure and can adapt quickly to changing kitchen demands.
