Salary: AUD 80,000, depending on calibre of applicant plus super
Noggos Kitchen & Coffee is a busy, much-loved local café in the heart of the community, known for our fresh, seasonal menu, house-made pastries, great coffee, and warm hospitality. We’re expanding our kitchen brigade and are on the hunt for a passionate, well-experienced Cook to join our tight-knit team.
Major Tasks and Duties:
· Prepare ingredients: clean, chop, peel, measure, and check freshness/quality.
· Season, pre-cook, and verify items are ready for service.
· Cook dishes to recipe, menu, or customer specs using various techniques (bake, grill, fry, sauté, etc.).
· Adapt recipes for dietary requirements (e.g., gluten-free, vegetarian).
· Plate food attractively with consistent portions.
· Suggest menu ideas or daily specials based on seasonal ingredients or preferences.
· Collaborate with chefs/managers on new or improved dishes.
· Estimate ingredient quantities to control costs and reduce waste.
· Operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment safely.
· Monitor cooking times/temperatures for quality and food safety.
· Handle multiple orders efficiently during busy periods.
· Follow food safety (e.g., HACCP), hygiene, and safety protocols.
· Manage stock: track levels, rotate (FIFO), inspect deliveries, report shortages.
· Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house teams for smooth service.
· Train or guide junior staff as needed.
· Work calmly under pressure, manage time effectively, and minimize waste through portion control and creative use of leftovers.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
· Relevant Trade Qualification or equivalent is a minimum requirement.
· Proficiency in cooking techniques, flavour profiles, and food presentation.
· Ability to stand for long periods, handle heavy equipment, and work in a fast-paced, hot environment.
· Precision in following recipes, portioning, and plating to maintain consistency.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills to work in a busy kitchen.
· Understanding of hygiene standards and regulations
· Ability to handle special requests, dietary needs, or last-minute menu changes.
