Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organise, prepare, and cook food
Plan and develop menus
Estimate food requirements, food and labour costs, and order supplies
Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
Liaise with the Head Chef and kitchen and waiting staff on food preparation matters
Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on procedures
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to a high standard that meet dietary requirements
Ensure strict compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations
Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
Manage food storage, including freezing and preservation
Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
Assist with staff selection and training where required to other kitchen staff and apprentices
About You:
Proven experience as a Cook or similar role
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Passion for quality food and continuous improvement
To be successful you must have:
AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training
OR
AQF Certificate IV or higher plus one year of relevant work experience
OR
At least three years of relevant experience in a similar position
