About the role
Commonwealth Golf Club is seeking a talented Chef de Partie / Casual Kitchen Hand to join our culinary team on a full-time basis. This role is based in Oakleigh South, VIC, and offers an exciting opportunity to work within a prestigious hospitality environment. As Chef de Partie or Kitchen Hand, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of cuisine and food preparation that define our establishment. This position is integral to our kitchen operations, supporting the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our members and guests.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook food items to the required standard, following established recipes and plating guidelines
Maintain and organise workstations, ensuring all equipment and ingredients are readily available
Assist with stock rotation, food storage and inventory management
Support senior chefs in the preparation of mise en place for service
Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene and sanitation protocols
Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen during service periods
Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by the head chef or senior kitchen staff
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas to the highest standards
Support the team in achieving daily operational targets and service schedules
What we're looking for
Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment, preferably in a hospitality or golf club setting
Competency in food preparation, cooking techniques and plating presentation
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, with current or ability to obtain Food Safety Certification
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a collaborative approach to working with kitchen staff
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation and quality
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required
Preferred: Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
