The Team within the Department of Health Tasmania located at the Cambridge Production Centre, working in the Cook role, is a collaborative group focused on delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors across healthcare settings. Team members work together in a fast-paced environment to support patient wellbeing through food services that meet dietary, cultural, and clinical requirements.
The team emphasises strong communication, adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, and efficient kitchen operations. Cooks and support staff coordinate daily meal preparation, portioning, and distribution while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and compliance with health regulations.
A key strength of the team is its commitment to teamwork, reliability, and patient-centred service, ensuring meals contribute positively to patient care and recovery. Continuous improvement, flexibility, and respect are central values that guide the team’s work within the broader healthcare environment.
In accordance with Hospital policies, guidelines and food safety legislation the occupant prepares and produces meals for all clients and assists with cleaning of the facility and its equipment.

Permanent full time, day worker position (not working weekends but working public holidays) working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$76,849 to $82,996 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
