SpillDeBeans Cafe

  • Location: POMONA, QLD

  • Position: Casual / Part-Time /Full-Time - Chef / Cook

  • Reporting To: Cafe Owner

  • Hours: up to 38 hours per week, including shared roster for weekend shifts. Café kitchen is open 6:30am – 2pm weekdays and Saturday and between 6:30am – 1pm Sunday

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef/Cook to join our close-knit kitchen team and help us continue delivering the excellent food that keeps our loyal customers coming back for more and our visitors excited to return.


✨ The Role & Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Chef/Cook to manage and execute the daily food service operations, ensuring high standards of quality, consistency, and hygiene.

  • Food Preparation & Service:

    • Prepare and cook all menu items for breakfast and lunch service, on a roster seven days a week.

    • Ensure all dishes are consistently prepared to the cafe's established recipes and presentation standards.

    • Oversee the efficient running of the kitchen section during service periods.

  • Operational Management (dependant on experience level):

    • Manage and monitor stock levels, including placing orders and receiving/checking deliveries.

    • Maintain meticulous standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety (HACCP/Food Safety protocols).

    • Assist with menu development and specials creation in collaboration with the Owner.

    • Minimise food waste through effective inventory management and preparation techniques.

  • Team & Environment:

    • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other kitchen staff and the front-of-house team to ensure excellent customer experience and a smooth service.

    • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures.


🔑 Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant, verifiable experience working in a commercial kitchen (cafe, restaurant, or similar).

  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Valid Food Handler/Food Safety and / or Food safety Supervisor Certificate.

  • Strong understanding of all kitchen operational procedures.

  • Reliability and flexibility to work a 38-hour week (fulltime / part-time) or as agreed for casual basis, including rostered weekend shifts.

Highly Desirable (Advantageous):

  • Formal culinary qualifications (e.g., Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery).

  • Additional experience and/or qualifications in Patisserie and/or Baking.

  • Experience with cost control and stock management systems.


💰 Salary & Employment Details

  • Position Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week).

  • Compensation: Annual salary will be determined in accordance with the Restaurant Industry Award 2020 (MA000119), and will be commensurate with the successful applicant's experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skill level.

  • Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship may be considered for the right applicant who meets all essential criteria and demonstrates exceptional skill and commitment
