Seeking a talented and driven Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in leading a high-performing kitchen team within a premium hospitality environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, is passionate about quality ingredients and innovative menus, and enjoys developing and mentoring others. You'll play a key role in delivering memorable dining experiences while contributing to a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement. As Sous Chef, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring consistent food quality, efficient service, strong cost control and compliance with all food safety and workplace standards. You’ll work closely with the Executive Chef on menu development, team training, stock management and operational planning, while leading by example during service.



Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in the daily operation of the kitchen and delivery of exceptional food experiences
  • Lead, motivate and mentor chefs, apprentices and kitchen support staff to achieve high standards of performance
  • Oversee food preparation and service, ensuring consistency, quality and presentation standards are maintained
  • Assist with menu development, seasonal specials and event offerings that align with the venue's culinary vision
  • Contribute creative ideas and innovation while maintaining a strong focus on guest satisfaction
  • Manage portion control, waste minimisation and food storage practices to support profitability and sustainability goals
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, stock control and stocktakes
  • Support roster management and labour cost control to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Foster a collaborative, positive and professional kitchen culture focused on continuous improvement


Your Profile

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen role within a premium hotel, resort, restaurant or hospitality venue
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for quality ingredients, creativity and presentation
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop kitchen teams
  • Sound understanding of food cost control, inventory management and labour management
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a busy service environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
  • A proactive and hands-on approach, with a genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience
  • Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and delivering operational excellence
