Burdett (Hornsby) House is an exciting new luxury residential aged care home, dedicated to providing exceptional care and a premium living experience for our residents. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality, nutritious, and beautifully presented meals every day.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head Chef to join our team on a full-time basis!

You will be based at our Burdett House, located at Hornsby NSW 2077.

As the Head Chef at Burdett House, you will:

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team, fostering a positive and professional culture

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver nutritious, seasonal, and appetising meals tailored to residents’ needs and preferences

  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards

  • Collaborate with the clinical and care teams to accommodate dietary requirements and special requests

  • Oversee ordering, stock control, and cost management within budget while maintaining high quality

  • Be an enthusiastic candidate who has a positive attitude and are passionate to work with the elderly

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Brings commissioning experience, with the ability to support the setup and opening of services (desirable)

  • Has previous experience as a Chef in aged care, preferably within a facility with 100+ beds (desirable)

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and hospitality management skills

  • Police Check (National Police Certificate) (Essential)

  • Hold a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (Essential)

  • Has a passion for creating healthy, delicious, and visually appealing meals

  • Holds current Food Safety certification and a strong understanding of HACCP principles

  • Is organised, reliable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene

  • Assist in the preparation of food and serving of meals

  • Knowledge of infection control procedures

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work well with staff
