Angelica Mexican is a well-established Mexican restaurant located in Norwest, Sydney. Known for our vibrant flavours, quality ingredients, and warm dining atmosphere, we take pride in delivering a consistently great experience for our guests. We are now looking for a skilled and reliable Chef to join our team at Shop 103, 42 Solent Circuit, Norwest NSW 2153.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Chef to work alongside our existing kitchen team at Angelica Mexican. You will play a hands-on role in daily kitchen operations, helping to maintain the quality and consistency of our menu. This role suits someone with a genuine passion for cooking, good knowledge of Mexican cuisine, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Key duties
Plan and update menus based on seasonal ingredients, incorporating authentic Mexican flavours and techniques to keep dishes fresh and varied
Prepare, cook, and plate all dishes to the restaurant's quality and presentation standards, with a focus on traditional Mexican cooking methods including grilling, braising, and the use of chillies, herbs, and aromatics
Source and inspect ingredients, with particular attention to key pantry staples such as dried chillies, corn masa, fresh herbs, avocado, and imported spices, ensuring freshness and quality at all times
Monitor food costs and minimise wastage to stay within kitchen budgets
Lead and support the kitchen team, fairly distributing tasks and maintaining an efficient work environment
Organise kitchen rosters and adjust staffing according to business needs
Manage stock levels, carry out regular stock checks, and place orders as needed
Keep kitchen equipment in good working order and report any faults promptly
Follow all food safety and hygiene requirements and NSW Food Authority standards
Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and a positive guest experience
Engage with guests to gather feedback on their dining experience, and use customer insights to continually improve dishes and overall menu offerings
Qualification & experiences
Relevant qualification preferable
Must have at least 2 years of experience working as a chef in restaurant
Creative, and passionate about food and providing high standards of food service
Excellent knowledge of kitchen hygiene & food safety standards
Salary : $80,000 + Super per year
