Head Chef

About the role

Toowoomba Golf Club is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary operations. This is a full-time position based in Middle Ridge, Toowoomba, QLD 4350. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, menu development, and kitchen management, ensuring the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation. This role is integral to delivering an exceptional dining experience to our members and guests, and plays a key part in enhancing the Club's reputation for culinary excellence.

What you'll be doing

1. Planning, designing and developing menus that appeal to our diverse membership and guest base

2. Overseeing all food preparation, cooking, and presentation standards to ensure excellence and consistency

3. Managing kitchen operations including stock control, food ordering, and supplier relationships

4. Training, supervising and mentoring kitchen staff to maintain high performance and professional standards

5. Ensuring strict adherence to food safety, hygiene and health regulations at all times

6. Controlling food costs and managing budgets whilst maintaining quality and portion sizes

7. Coordinating catering for events, functions and special occasions held at the Club

8. Maintaining kitchen equipment and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment

9. Working collaboratively with front-of-house staff to deliver seamless service experiences

10. Monitoring customer feedback and continuously improving menu offerings and service quality

What we're looking for

1. Recognised culinary qualifications or substantial professional training in food preparation and kitchen management

2. Minimum 5+ years' experience working as a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within a hospitality environment

3. Proven expertise in menu planning, food costing and kitchen operations management

4. Advanced technical cooking skills across a variety of cuisines and cooking techniques

5. Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and compliance with health regulations

6. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members

7. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards and attention to detail

8. Sound financial acumen and experience managing kitchen budgets and controlling food costs

9. Experience in a golf club, country club or similar hospitality venue is highly desirable but not essential

10. Current food handling and safety certifications
