Kitchen / Sushi Bar Staff – Japanese Restaurant

Want to work in a busy Japanese restaurant kitchen and develop genuine cooking and sushi skills?

We are an owner-chef Japanese restaurant that has been operating in Melbourne for over 20 years. You will work directly with experienced Japanese chefs and learn the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine, knife skills, kitchen organisation, and sushi bar service.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to build strong foundational skills and grow step by step as a chef.

About the role:

• Assist in kitchen preparation and service

• Learn Japanese cooking techniques and sushi preparation

• Work in a fast-paced team environment

• Develop speed, organisation, and consistency during service

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year kitchen experience

• Basic knife skills

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Ability to work efficiently during busy service

• Reliable and punctual

Shifts:

• Evening shifts starting around 4:30–5:00pm

• Usually finishing around 9:30pm; No late night finish

• we offer part-time/full-time position for a suitable candidate
