Power BI Semantic Model Builder

Our Government client are looking for a highly capable Power BI Semantic Modeller to join the organisation. This is a 12 month initial contract role that would focus on the creation of a set of models, as well as mentoring of others to increase internal capability.

Role Title: Enterprise Power BI Semantic Model Builder

Contract Role: 12 Month initial Contract

Hourly Pay: $100 - $120 + Super

Location: Woden (2606)

Key Accountabilities:

• Automated performance scorecards and Power BI dashboards sourced from governed semantic models.

• A single source of truth for internal strategic reporting, including performance reporting, operational dashboards, self-service discovery and basic analytics.
• Consistent internal metrics suitable for operational use, with an intended maturity target that approximately 80% of standard internal metrics are sourced from semantic models.
• A repeatable delivery pattern that minimises rework, reduces maintenance overhead and supports a consistent maturity pathway for Power BI and semantic model development.
• Ensure that requests for gold layer data to support semantic models are specified in line with industry better practice, helping organisational defined requirements for curated data assets.

Experience & Skills Required:

• Proven expertise in designing complex, enterprise-grade semantic models and high-performing Power BI dashboards.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts (specifically gold layer/curated data structures) and the ability to articulate business requirements into technical data specifications.
• An ability to mentor, coach and upskill staff to foster long-term internal capability.
• Prior experience working within public sector environments is highly regarded, but not essential.
