We are seeking an experienced Lead Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team and take ownership of our workshop and fleet maintenance operations.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for a motivated mechanic who enjoys autonomy and takes pride in their work. As KIBY's Lead Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will take ownership of the maintenance and reliability of our growing fleet while remaining actively involved on the tools.

Working closely with the operations team, you will play a key role in maintaining fleet performance, developing preventative maintenance programs and helping shape the future growth of our workshop and maintenance operations.

You will be responsible for servicing, repairs, fault finding and preventative maintenance while helping improve workshop systems, maintenance processes and fleet reliability as the business continues to expand.

This is primarily a workshop-based role with occasional field service and breakdown support when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance across the fleet.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, driveline and transmission components.
• Service and maintain braking, suspension, axle and air systems.
• Carry out trailer wiring, lighting and electrical repairs.
• Complete inspections, defect reporting and roadworthy repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and field service requirements when required.
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Manage workshop stock, consumables and parts requirements.
• Coordinate external repairs and specialist suppliers where required.
• Assist with fleet planning and preventative maintenance scheduling.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime and increase fleet availability.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
• Contribute to the development and growth of KIBY's workshop and maintenance systems.

• Competitive hourly rate of $60 - $75 per hour plus superannuation, dependent on experience and industry background.

About You

• Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic.
• Experience working on heavy vehicles, trailers and road transport equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Experience with Kenworth, Cummins and Detroit equipment highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of brakes, suspension, air systems, hydraulics and driveline components.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Current Australian Driver's Licence.
• HR or MC Licence highly regarded but not essential.
• Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
• Experience within the transport and logistics industry highly regarded.
