Manufacturing Sales & Estimating Administrator - Enquiries, Quotes, & Production Liaison - Sheet Metal Fabrication

Ultralift Australia / Westberg Sheetmetal
Heidelberg West, Melbourne VIC
Full-Time | On-Site | Heidelberg West
$80,000 – $95,000 + Super

About the Role

This is a client-facing role where your ability to communicate clearly matters as much as your technical understanding. You will be the primary point of contact for client enquiries - answering calls, discussing drawings and scope, and converting requirements into accurate, buildable quotes. The work is fast-paced, unscripted, and heavily phone-based. You will work supporting and supported by a sales manager, and directly alongside the production team and see the jobs you quote being manufactured on the floor.

We are specifically looking for someone with strong local experience, reliable attendance, and the ability to problem-solve independently.

What You'll Do

  • Handle inbound client enquiries by phone and email - often rapid, detailed discussions about drawings, materials, and scope

  • Review engineering drawings and clarify requirements directly with customers

  • Prepare material, labour, and lead-time estimates

  • Issue quotes, follow up, and manage variations

  • Liaise with production to ensure quotes are practical and profitable

  • Support repeat clients with clear advice

What You Need

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years full-time experience in the Australian workforce, within manufacturing, industrial, transport/logistics, trades, or a similarly technical customer-facing environment

  • Clear, confident communication - you can hold fast, unscripted phone conversations with Australian trades and engineers, understand slang and technical terms in context, and write clear, professional emails without support

  • Reliable track record of attendance and punctuality

  • Organised, commercially aware, and comfortable working independently

  • Full Australian working rights

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience reading engineering drawings

  • Practical knowledge of sheet metal, fabrication, or CNC processes

  • Background in internal sales, estimating, or technical coordination

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and CAD viewing tools

We will teach the technical side to a strong administrator with the right communication skills and mindset.

Why Join Us

Stable, on-site role in a long-established Australian fabrication business with modern laser cutting, CNC punching, folding, welding and finishing in-house. We invest in our people and systems - performance is visible and you will build both technical and commercial skills here.

No recruiters.
If your background is not a perfect match but you bring relevant exposure, strong communication skills, a proactive can-do attitude, and the ability to work directly with customers, we encourage you to apply and tell us more in your coverletter.
