Flashbutt Welder

About the role
Join a skilled team completing rail works across the Pilbara region as a Flashbutt Welder. Perform Flashbutt rail welding, with Aluminothermic welding experience and ticket highly desirable. Prepare and align rails, inspect and record welds, maintain tools and equipment, and ensure safe, efficient rail maintenance on an ongoing FIFO roster.

Skills & experience

• Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (minimum)
• Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure (highly desirable)
• Aluminothermic Welding qualification (TLIW3015, TLIW0006, TLIW0004) – highly desirable
• Flash Butt Welding qualification (TLIW008 and TLIW0004)
• Demonstrated first attack firefighting equipment skills (CPPFES2005)
• Full C Class Driving Licence or higher with no restrictions (HR Licence highly desirable)
• Construction Card (white/blue)
• 4WD Training (preferred but not essential)
• Previous experience welding in a rail environment
• Strong understanding of welding processes
• Previous exposure to mining or remote work environments (desirable)
• Ability to complete and pass Rail Category 1 Medical, and drug and alcohol testing

Duties & responsibilities

• Prepare, clean, and align rail ends for Flashbutt welding
• Perform Flashbutt welding, monitoring quality and weld parameters
• Inspect, trim, grind, and record completed welds, maintaining accurate documentation
• Maintain and service welding equipment and tools, reporting faults as needed
• Work safely with track crews, follow rail safety protocols, and support maintenance activities
