SHEETMETAL SHOP MANAGER

Mark Evans Sheetmetal (MESM) is a proud Mackay organisation. Established for 30 years, MESM serve a well-established client base in the Mackay-Whitsunday, and Coalfield areas. Our core business includes Air conditioning ductwork and ventilation, mechanical drafting, general sheetmetal products, and MESM utilises 3D Cad and plasma cutting technology to produce accurate and quality product.

We are seeking a skilled Shop Manager to lead our fabrication team. You will oversee daily operations, production schedules, and safety protocols. Your leadership will ensure high-quality output and on-time delivery.

Your Responsibilities will include:

• Manage daily shop operations and fabrication workflows;

• Schedule production runs to meet strict project deadlines

• Supervise and mentor a team of 8 fabricators;

• Administer safety protocols and maintain OH&S compliance;

• Optimize material usage to minimise scrap and costs;

• Inspect finished products for strict quality control;

• Maintain fabrication machinery and coordinate repairs and Stock control

To Succeed in this role you'll have:

• 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or similar;

• 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role;

• Expertise in reading blueprints and technical structural drawings; and

• Proficiency with CAD;

Of Advantage would be:

• Proficiency with machinery including CNC press brakes, guillotine, plasma cutter or laser;

• Multicam Router for cutting P-3 board / aluminium;

• Strong knowledge of welding techniques (TIG / MIG);

• Excellent communication skills with project managers; and worked within the HVAC industry.
