• Working on Highway trucks, aux equipment, generators, earthmoving machinery

• Generous salary package -  in the range of $160K - $180K

About Us:

JAI-MEC started as a one-man business in 2012 and we are Weipa’s leader in mechanical maintenance, specialising in fleet maintenance and breakdown repairs in mining and civil industries for the whole of Cape York. Because of our high-quality service offerings and our integrity, we have grown by nearly 20% every year, for the last five years and our blue-chip clients include Rio Tinto, Remondis, Coates, Onsite Rentals amongst others. A local company, many of our team members have grown up in Weipa and the Torres Strait region and have a deep understanding of the land and challenges businesses working in the Cape face.

About The Role:

We are looking to employ a high-achieving Diesel Fitter, Diesel Mechanic to work alongside our skilled fitters to service our clients in the mining and civil sector. Reporting to a workshop manager, you’ll be a hands-on self-starter who leads by example with your high-quality work and enjoys diversity, from large scale projects to service maintenance and shift coverage. You might be installing, attending a breakdown, servicing a machine, rebuilding engines or doing training to upskill. You will never be bored and you’ll be continuously increasing your mechanical knowledge. There is some flexibility of shift time, depending on where you are working, and there are options for overtime, if desired. 

Note we’re not looking for industry hacks, but for good reliable people who take real pride in their work. You may be a long-term high-achieving diesel fitter looking to ditch the urban rat-race and experience a lifestyle change. Or you may only have a few years under your belt but be looking for a position where you can challenge yourself, work on diverse projects and accelerate your learning. To Be Successful In This Role You Need:

• A track record of success in a mechanical trade (Diesel Fitting, Diesel Mechanic)

• Current Queensland Drivers licence.

• A track record in delivering safe outcomes while working as part of a team environment or by your self.

• Good communication skills and demonstrated success in developing and maintaining good relationships with workmates and clients.

• Forklift (preferred but not essential) 

• Air conditioning licence (preferred but not essential)

• A past history demonstrating honesty and reliability and a demonstrated commitment to continual improvement and learning.
