We are seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer to establish and embed reliability engineering practices within a Fixed Plant Maintenance Team. This person will be responsible for developing structured reliability processes, improving asset performance and driving a proactive maintenance and defect elimination culture.

The role will be a 3-month initial contract, FIFO ex. Perth, with the potential to turn into a long-term position.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose Reliability Engineering framework, including standards, processes, criticality assessments and long-term maturity plans

  • Conduct asset criticality assessments to prioritise maintenance strategies, condition monitoring and spare parts planning

  • Establish and manage a Condition Monitoring program, including vibration, oil analysis, thermography and ultrasonic inspections

  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained

  • Perform Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and FMEA/FMECA analyses to optimise asset strategies

  • Analyse CMMS data to identify failure trends, bad actors and cost drivers to lead defect elimination initiatives

  • Maintain accurate equipment hierarchies, failure coding and reliability data systems to support analysis and reporting

  • Develop and report key reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, availability and compliance

  • Collaborate with OEMs, maintenance and operations teams to improve asset performance and reliability outcomes

  • Contribute to shutdown planning and maintenance strategies

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety and proactive reliability practices

Candidate capabilities must include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Reliability Engineering (Essential)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Pronto CMMS (Essential)

  • Strong knowledge of reliability methodologies (RCM, FMEA/FMECA, RCFA, criticality analysis, PM optimisation)

  • Experience with condition monitoring techniques (vibration, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound)

  • Ability to analyse data using trend analysis, Pareto, Weibull and other statistical tools

  • Experience working with fixed plant or processing equipment

  • Strong technical writing skills for procedures, reports and standards
