In partnership with CSI Mining Services, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Supervisor to join our team on our joint venture project site at OHP4, Mining Area C to meet production targets for our client (BHP).


About the role:
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in the effective operation of our iron ore Crushing & Screening Plant. The principal purpose of the Mechanical Supervisor is to provide day to day direction to Maintenance Crews and assist with Operations in the absence of Production Supervisor/Leading Hand. To ensure safe and effective operation of the mechanical systems supplying and controlling the process plants and associated equipment, maximising equipment availability, complying with statutory requirements, minimising costs, and effectively supervising the Mechanical team on site.

This position has the responsibility of ensuring that all tasks are being carried out efficiently, safely, and correctly under the direction of the Site Superintendent or Manager.

Location: Fly In Fly Out to Mining Area C (FIFO ex-Perth Only)
Roster: 8 Days on / 6 Days off

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of the crushing plant, including inspection & checking of plant and equipment, and recording of plant operating conditions and other relevant information as required on the daily inspection sheets.

  • Drive, implement and ensure compliance to the Company Occupational Hazard Management Plan

  • Coordinate and review work crew’s Job Safety Analysis.

  • Where required, assist the Company’s Safety Advisor, Site Manager and the Client Representatives in the investigation and reporting of any accident, incident or loss of assets that may occur at a workplace.

  • Be proactively and lead by example with Take 5, JHA and procedural follow.

  • Make recommendations for the training of personnel and eliminate any gaps that may cause delays.

  • Ensure that plant, equipment, tools, and the workshop/workplace housekeeping is maintained in an acceptable state.

  • Ensure all Mechanical personnel are aware of their general Duty of Care and assists to guide them to work in a safe manner.

  • Assisting maintenance workers with maintenance and servicing of Plant and Equipment during Plant shutdowns and breakdowns.

  • Spare parts management to ensure continuous supply and service

  • Demonstrate and maintain a high standard of personal safety, safety leadership and a commitment to the safety of fellow workers

Please note - This role requires certain physical demands and exposure to challenging environments including extreme weather conditions. These demands may involve lifting, pushing, pulling, work at heights and other exertions associated with manual roles.

Essential experience & technical skills

  • Frontline Supervisory qualification including S26

  • Minimum 12 months demonstrated previous experience performing maintenance duties within a crushing plant or similar fixed plant environment.

  • Previous people management experience at a supervisor level.

  • Self-motivated, observant, and diligent tradesperson, capable of working with minimal supervision.

  • Familiarity with statutory obligations.

  • Proven fault finding and problem-solving skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to carry out work instructions and directives to provide satisfactory outcomes.

  • Ability to work within a team environment to achieve desired results.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screen

  • Ability to complete online inductions

Essential qualifications:

  • Current Manual C Class or above Drivers Licence (HR licence desirable)

  • Trade Certificate (Australian Nationally Recognised Training)

  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate

  • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (Construction “White card”)

  • MSMWHS217 – Gas test atmospheres

  • RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces

  • RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights

  • CPPFES2005 – Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment

  • Hold, or willing to obtain a National Police Clearance valid within 12 months

  • Full Australian Work Rights


Desirable qualifications:

  • Current BHP and/or Mineral Resources Limited induction status

  • Certificate III Resource Processing (desirable)

  • Relevant Mobile Plant NRTs

  • 4WD/Defensive Driving (such as RIIVEH305F: Operate and Maintain a 4WD Vehicle, RIIVEH201E: Operate a Light Vehicle)
