Operator Maintainer – Tailings Reclamation & Reprocessing (Mechanical Fitter Trade)

We are seeking a hands-on Operator Maintainer with a Mechanical Fitter trade qualification to join our tailings reclamation and reprocessing team. This is a physically active, site-based role combining mobile plant operation with practical mechanical maintenance support in a fast-paced mining environment.

 

Role Overview

In this role, you will operate key equipment used in tailings reprocessing while also carrying out day-to-day mechanical maintenance and breakdown support across the circuit. You will be directly involved in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently, supporting production targets and recovery performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant equipment including skid steers and tailings delivery systems

• Support operation of tailings cannons and associated pipeline infrastructure

• Carry out mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and basic repairs on pumps, pipelines, and ancillary equipment

• Assist with installation, relocation, and stripping of pipework and pumping systems

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and contribute to shutdown activities

• Ensure safe work practices, compliance with site procedures, and high housekeeping standards

• Support barricading, set-up, and general site maintenance activities as required

About You

• Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (essential)

• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance or mobile plant environments

• Previous exposure to mining, processing plants, civil, agriculture, or heavy industry

• Comfortable working in a physically demanding, outdoor environment

• Hands-on, practical operator who enjoys varied work across both operations and maintenance

• Safety-focused with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Requirements

• Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (mandatory)

• Ability to pass full pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screening, and police check
