Cougar Group is a market-leading OEM manufacturer, hire fleet specialist, and aftermarket service provided for the underground coal mining industry in NSW and QLD. We design, engineer, manufacture, and assemble a diverse range of underground coal diesel equipment, including Personnel Transporters, Graders, Underground Dozers, and Longwall Chock Carriers. With a hire fleet of more than 80 pieces of equipment, we are expanding our workshop team to support our ongoing commitment to customer service.


The Opportunity

We are seeking an Electrical Tradesperson with experience in, or a willingness to learn, underground flameproof equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and overhaul hire fleet and customer assets, including underground loaders, transporters, generators, longwall chock carriers, dozers and graders

  • Install and update electrical systems as determined by customer specifications

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues on OEM, non-OEM and hire fleet equipment

  • Provide technical support on OEM machinery in the workshop

  • Complete documentation including shift reports, external and internal flameproof equipment inspections and non-conformance reports


What We're Looking For

  • Trade-qualified Electrician

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to WHS

  • Excellent communication skills and adaptability to work independently

  • Competence in installation, testing and repair of electrical systems within underground mobile mining equipment (EEHA certificate preferred, but not essential)

  • Competent person certification for testing, overhaul and repair of explosion protected (Ex) electrical equipment (AS3800 competency preferred, but not essential)

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and single line diagrams

  • Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
