The Rocklands Copper Project Located 17 km west of Cloncurry in North West Queensland, the Rocklands Copper Mine & Processing Plant is a premier copper asset within a Tier-1 mining jurisdiction. Currently transitioning from care and maintenance, the project is on track for a strategic restart in mid-to-late 2027.

The facility boasts a nameplate throughput capacity of 3 Mtpa. Beyond its primary operations, Rocklands is permitted and equipped to provide toll treatment services for third-party ore. By acting as a central processing hub for the Cloncurry and Mt Isa regions, Rocklands is uniquely positioned to unlock the future copper potential of the entire district.

About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our site maintenance team. This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark on the landmark Rocklands restart under the new ownership and fresh direction of Austral Resources.

This isn’t a role where you’ll just be stuck in a workshop bay all day. In preparation for our upcoming operational launch, we need a true team player who can keep our mobile and ancillary fleet firing, while actively contributing to broader site readiness and critical care and maintenance projects. With highly sought after flexibility to fly in from Townsville or Cairns, drive in from the region, or live locally in Cloncurry as part of the community this role can allow for the lifestyle fit you are seeking.

What You’ll Do:

You will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse range of mobile plant, light vehicles, and critical infrastructure equipment, while working collaboratively with a tight-knit site team.

·        Mobile Fleet Maintenance: Service, diagnose and repair earthmoving equipment, ancillary plant, and a fleet of site light vehicles.

·        Critical Infrastructure: Maintain and service fixed/portable diesel pumps and power generation units to ensure uninterrupted site water management and power supply.

·        All-Rounder Site Support: Safely and willingly step outside the traditional mechanic scope to assist with variety of care, maintenance and site readiness tasks as required to develop broader site skills.

·        Safety Leadership: Adhere strictly to site safety management systems, conduct thorough take-5s, and maintain an immaculate workshop and work area.

What We Are Looking For:

·        Trade Qualification: Australian Recognised Heavy Vehicle/Diesel Fitter or Motor Mechanic Trade Certificate.

·        Site Safety Qualifications: S1, S2, S3 or G1, G8, G9 operational supervisor competencies are highly desirable.

·        Versatile Experience: Proven experience working on diesel pumps, generators, and light vehicles/4WDs, alongside heavy mobile equipment.

·        The Right Attitude: A genuine willingness to lend a hand to non-trade-specific maintenance tasks when the team needs it.

·        Mine Site Ready: Previous experience working on a Queensland mine site under a strict safety framework is highly regarded.

·        High Risk Work Licences: A Forklift (LF) ticket and Franna Crane (CN) ticket are highly desirable.

·        Current Manual Drivers Licence (Open).
