About Us

PRM is a Pilbara-based rail maintenance and construction business delivering critical infrastructure solutions across Australia’s mining and transportation sectors. Recognised for our strong safety culture, technical capability, and reliable delivery, we work on some of the most complex and strategically significant rail projects in the country, partnering with major mining companies and tier-one contractors.

With an extensive, high-quality fleet and a skilled workforce, PRM is committed to delivering premium outcomes for our clients while investing in the people who make it possible.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Ballast Cleaning Team. All candidates must hold a recognised trade certificate. In this role, you’ll operate and maintain the Plasser RM900 Ballast Cleaner and MFS wagons, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of works across Pilbara rail networks.

What Sets This Role Apart

  • FIFO opportunities in the Pilbara, working on industry-leading rail infrastructure projects

  • East Coast flights considered – because the right people aren’t always next door

  • Supportive team culture – close-knit teams where your skills are valued and development is encouraged

  • High-impact work – contributing to critical mining and transport rail networks

What We’re Looking For

  • Mandatory trade qualification – you must hold a recognised trade certificate (Heavy Diesel Mechanic)

  • Demonstrated experience operating and/or maintaining OTM and ballast cleaning equipment (Plasser RM900 / MFS wagons or similar highly regarded)

  • Strong capability in fault-finding, diagnostics, servicing, and mechanical/electrical maintenance

  • Proven ability to work safely and effectively in remote, high-volume rail environments

  • A team-first attitude with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and performance

  • Willingness to work FIFO rosters, which may vary based on operational requirements

Why PRM?

At PRM, we are Invested in Ingenuity. This means we’re committed to delivering quality outcomes for our clients while actively supporting, developing, and investing in the people who make our success possible.
