Mobile Plant Mechanic / Drill

As a core member of our close-knit workshop team, you will collaborate daily with the Workshop Supervisor and fellow technicians to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your primary focus will be working together to tackle the teardown, inspection, and rebuilding of service exchange components and heavy earth-moving equipment.

The Role:

• Component Overhaul: Strip down service exchange components and other mechanical assemblies for maintenance and overhaul.

• Inspection & Reporting: Accurately measure, inspect, and report on the condition of parts to determine repair viability and scope of work.

• Quality Rebuilding: Rebuild components to a consistently high standard, ensuring all tolerances and quality benchmarks are met.

• Diagnostics & Repair: Apply extensive technical expertise to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy earth-moving equipment.

• Testing & Verification: Test mobile plant and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure operational integrity.

• Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret complex hydraulic and electrical schematics to guide repair and assembly work.

• Autonomous Execution: Work effectively within an autonomous environment to achieve desired maintenance outcomes and project deadlines.

• Risk Management & HSE: Conduct pre-task risk assessments, identify adequate hazard control measures, and complete all tasks in strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures.

• Housekeeping: Always maintain work areas to a high standard of housekeeping and organization.

Essential Criteria:

• Australian trade-qualified HD/Plant Mechanic

• High-risk work licence qualifications – LF, WP, CN, DG advantageous

• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen

• Extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience in a heavy mechanical or fitting workshop, specifically with drill rigs and heavy earth-moving equipment.

• Strong experience with component rebuilds, inspections, and precision measuring tools.

• Proven ability to interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics

• Experience with manual machining (lathe & mill experience is highly regarded).

• A strong commitment to safety, hazard control, and HSE compliance.

• A proactive attitude with the ability to take direction from the Workshop Supervisor while remaining highly capable of working autonomously.
