Motor Mechanic

The Role:

• Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in fleet vehicles to maintain operational efficiency
• Examining engines, braking systems, steering and other mechanical components to ensure safety and compliance standards are met
• Performing scheduled servicing such as oil and filter changes, lubrication and engine adjustments
• Removing, repairing and reinstalling faulty mechanical parts and assemblies in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
• Operating diagnostic computers and specialised testing equipment to detect and assess vehicle faults
• Completing vehicle inspections before and after hire to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with company standards
• Conducting performance testing and adjustments following repairs to confirm vehicles are operating correctly
• Recording maintenance activities, repairs and compliance checks for fleet management and audit purposes
• Attending vehicle breakdowns and carrying out emergency repairs to reduce service interruptions
• Following workplace safety procedures and transport regulations while undertaking maintenance and repair duties

Qualification and Experience:

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience as a Motor Mechanic
• Sound knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, servicing and repair procedures
• Current valid driver licence
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in the automotive industry
