Fleet Mechanic / Plant Mechanic - Workshop & Field Service

Avalon | Full-Time | $50-$53 per hour + Overtime + Vehicle

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Fleet Mechanic / Plant Mechanic to join Unyte in Avalon, working across both workshop and field service environments.

This hands-on role offers variety, strong earning potential, overtime opportunities, and a fully maintained company Ute while working on a modern fleet of earthmoving plant and machinery across customer and project sites, working in our field service team and in our brand new, state of the art, fully equipped workshop

  • Full-time permanent position with Strong earning potential with daily overtime and weekend work available
  • $50-$53 per hour + overtime
  • Consistent overtime opportunities with approximately 2.4 hours overtime daily (7am-5pm roster)
  • Weekend overtime available

  • Fully maintained company Vehicle for full use

Your everyday:

  • Service, repair, troubleshoot and prepare earthmoving plant machinery and attachments for hire
  • Attend breakdowns and provide field service support across project and customer sites
  • Complete accurate on/off hire inspections and record machine condition
  • Maintain fleet presentation through cleaning and detailing of machinery
  • Manage parts ordering, usage, returns and ensure all work meets quality and warranty standards
  • Maintain accurate work orders, service reports, maintenance records and weekly timesheets
  • Use electronic tools/software for inspections, reporting, audits and internal processes
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, operators and customers through professional communication and service
  • Follow all HSEQ requirements, PPE and Safety 7 principles while contributing to a safe, compliant work environment

Who are you?

  • Trade qualification - Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Plant Mechanic
  • Previous experience working on earthmoving plant and heavy machinery
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Current driver's licence
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience working in both workshop and field service environments highly regarded
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Competency with load/unload and machine movement
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Knowledge of relevant HSEQ legislation and standards
  • A team-first attitude, initiative and willingness to support others
  • Flexibility for overtime, weekend work and occasional overnight travel
