Task & responsibilities

Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures
Repair and replace defective engine components, transmissions, suspension systems, steering mechanisms, and braking systems
Carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements
Inspect vehicles and test mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards
Dismantle and reassemble vehicle engines, transmissions, and other mechanical components
Perform repairs on fuel systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems
Conduct wheel alignments, tyre rotations, and suspension adjustments where required
Use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently to identify and rectify faults
Test drive vehicles after repairs to ensure mechanical issues have been resolved effectively
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used
Ensure all repair and maintenance work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety standards
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
Assist in ordering, checking, and managing workshop parts and inventory when required
Work collaboratively with other workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction

Qualification & experience

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic in an automotive workshop environment
Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent preferred
Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repair techniques, and mechanical systems
Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong communication and teamwork skills
