Kyabram Scrap Metal is a Victoria-based recycling and metal recovery business specialising in the collection, processing, and recycling of scrap metals for commercial and industrial clients. The company also undertakes metal fabrication, repair, and maintenance work for heavy steel structures, containers, trailers, and recycling equipment, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, and environmentally sustainable practices.

  
The Role:

We are looking for Welder who can work within a dynamic and high performing environment.

 

Key duties will include but not limited to:

1.   Carry out fabrication and repair work on scrap bins, metal containers, trailers, and recycling plant equipment to support the company’s day-to-day scrap metal processing operations.

2.   Study workshop job sheets, measurements, and structural layouts to determine the most suitable metal joining and repair approach for heavy steel components and machinery parts.

3.    Assemble and reinforce worn or damaged steel structures used in scrap collection and transport activities, ensuring equipment remains safe and operational.

4.   Operate welding and metal fabrication equipment while adjusting heat flow and machine settings according to the condition, thickness, and type of recycled metal materials being handled.

5.   Prepare rusted, bent, or damaged metal sections by cutting, grinding, straightening, and shaping materials prior to fabrication and repair activities.

6.   Restore and strengthen recycling machinery, skip bins, and transport frames by replacing deteriorated metal parts and securing structural joints for long-term durability.

7.   Examine completed metal fabrication and repair work to identify surface flaws, weak joins, or alignment issues and carry out corrective work where required to maintain workshop quality standards.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in working as welder or related field

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

• Good attitude and a high level of work standards

• Interpret drawings/fabricate and weld accordingly

• Apply principles and techniques of marking out

• Identify materials and defects in materials

·       Effective communication skills to provide clear technical support and collaborate with clients.

·       Ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: 

Salary: $ 77,000 salary annually inclusive of superannuation.
