Position Description: Fitter Mechanic

About the Role:

Planning and undertaking repairs, replacement and maintenance of mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, treatment plant equipment and chemical dosing systems to ensure equipment is serviced according to agreed standards
Updating of equipment asset register and maintenance records
Assist in the planning and co-ordination of maintenance, renewal and new capital projects and prioritise with council employees and contractors
Attend works meeting when requested by Manager or Engineer to plan work and resolve difficulties to meet work program and annual maintenance schedule
Assist in the procurement of goods and services
Provide reports and advice to management in regard to mechanical assets and processes
Supervising of contractors as required
Receive training on new technologies and maintenance repair methods to ensure maintenance work is both effective and efficient
Maintain adopted policies, procedures, processes and systems of work
Model and reinforce cross-functional collaboration through information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision making, enhance capability and optimise capacity
Model and reinforce an agile, solutions-focused, accountable and collaborative culture that facilitates workforce engagement, empowerment and performance
Inform, education and guide employees about their WHS responsibility to maintain a safe workplace

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have:

Certificate of Proficiency in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
Work Cover Construction Card (White Card)
Ability to produce reports, data recording and demonstrated computer literacy skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritise and schedule maintenance, construction and repairs
Current Class C Drivers Licence
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Demonstrated experience working with pumps and an understanding of hydraulic systems
Demonstrated experience to operate workshop plant and equipment to a high degree of accuracy

Desirable criteria:

Disconnect/Reconnect Electric Motors
Forklift Licence
Confined Space Ticket
Rigging and Dogging Tickets
Experience co-ordinating construction and maintenance teams
