Dematec Automation Pty Ltd is a South Australian engineering and system integration business that assists companies in the water, defence infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors to get the optimum performance and efficiency from their industrial assets.

Our services range from specification and conceptual design of electrical and control systems at the outset of a project, through to manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of production and process equipment. The Role 

We see this as a fantastic opportunity to be part of an interactive and collaborative team environment, where you can collaborate with internal engineers and play an integral part in seeing a project come to life, from concept to installation and ongoing support.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the build, installation, testing, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment associated with industrial machinery and robotic systems.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Electrical panel build and installation work
    Layout, mounting, and wiring of electrical panels to Australian Standards and customer specifications. Interpretation and review of electrical drawings. Field wiring, termination and labelling of electrical systems to electrical drawings. Connections to VSD, PLC, HMIs, and other electronic equipment. System testing and commissioning. 

  • Commissioning of industrial automation systems
    Collaborate with the engineering team on the commissioning of industrial automation systems.

  • Quality adherence
    Ensure that all work undertaken is consistent with quality standards with company policies and procedures. 

  • Guidance and mentoring
    Training and supervision of all work that apprentices are asked to perform. 

  • Documentation
    Preparing reports and timesheets for the purpose of invoicing customers quickly & cleanly, ensuring that all WHS and quality reporting requirements are met.

Experience/Skillset & Must-have Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding of industrial electrical installations;

  • Experience with on-site electrical work preferably including cable ladder, industrial wiring, screwed metal conduit work, SWA cable terminations, control wiring termination and soldering;

  • Unrestricted Electrical Licence (South Australia);

  • Full Australian working rights; 

  • White Card;

  • Current driver’s license;

  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings;

  • High level of initiative and problem solving;

  • Ability to provide high quality customer services;

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and a close fit of company’s values;

  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Availability to work away for planned installation and service jobs

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems;

  • Experience with VSD and instrumentation wiring and configuration;

  • Experience with industrial control systems such as PLCs, RTUs and SCADA platforms;

  • Experience with electrical hazard risk analysis.
