The company specialises in commercial construction, industrial installations, asset refurbishments and shutdown works. They are not a maintenance plumbing business.

As part of their continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Foreman Plumber who takes pride in their work, values safety and quality, and wants to be part of a close-knit team where their contribution genuinely matters.

About the Role

We are seeking an autonomous and highly skilled Leading Hand Plumber to lead small-to-medium commercial build projects, industrial installations and refurbishment works across Brisbane and surrounding regions.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you will remain on the tools while managing a crew of plumbers and apprentices. You will play a key role in project delivery, site coordination, safety compliance and stakeholder management.

Reporting directly to the Director, this position offers genuine autonomy, strong support and long-term career progression opportunities within a growing business.

The Projects

Projects typically include:

  • Commercial construction plumbing

  • Industrial installations and upgrades

  • Asset refurbishment projects

  • Planned shutdown works

  • Childcare centres and schools

  • Hospitals and medical facilities

  • Food processing facilities and food service outlets

  • New builds, fit-outs and infrastructure upgrades

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and supervise teams of 2-6 plumbers and apprentices.

  • Allocate daily tasks and manage site productivity.

  • Coordinate labour, materials and equipment requirements.

  • Forward-order critical materials to avoid project delays.

  • Mentor apprentices and maintain a positive team environment.

Technical Project Delivery

  • Interpret hydraulic, architectural, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical plans.

  • Manage project variations and raise RFIs when required.

  • Oversee installations including:

    • Sewer and stormwater systems

    • Water infrastructure

    • Trade waste systems

    • Backflow prevention devices

    • Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs)

    • Hot Water Systems (HWS)

    • Civil and infrastructure plumbing works

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce SWMS and site safety requirements.

  • Conduct daily JSAs and hazard assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with company and client safety procedures.

  • Promote a culture where everyone goes home safely each day.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess:

  • Current Queensland Plumber and Drainer Licence.

  • Gas Fitting Licence highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams on commercial or industrial projects.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic services and commercial plumbing systems.

  • Experience using construction software such as Fergus, Procore, Hammertech or similar.

  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of project outcomes.
