MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees has partnered again with Bengalla Mining Company to recruit motivated and enthusiastic local candidates for its annual apprenticeship intake.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor at Bengalla Mining Company, you will complete a four-year apprenticeship and be mentored by qualified tradespeople while building practical mechanical skills in a mining environment.
Your responsibilities will include maintenance, inspections, repairs, servicing, and fuelling of mobile and fixed plant machinery.
You will gain hands-on experience working on a range of equipment, including dump trucks, dozers, water carts, and excavators.
As part of the maintenance team, you will help support the safe and efficient operation of assets across a 24-hour, 7-day open-cut mine site.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will qualify as a Mobile Plant Mechanic and achieve a nationally recognised qualification, AUR31220 Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology.
We are looking for motivated candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a genuine interest in building a long-term career in the mining industry.
Applicants with a Certificate II pre-vocational qualification in an automotive or mechanical field, or relevant paid or volunteer experience, will be highly regarded.
Other requirements include:
Bengalla Mining Company has a long-standing presence in the Upper Hunter Valley and is committed to supporting the local community through employment and regional investment. Bengalla is a single-pit open-cut mine that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using dragline, truck, and excavator mining methods.
As a busy and highly productive site, Bengalla offers apprentices the chance to develop practical skills in a safety-focused and team-based environment.
All Bengalla Mining Company apprentices complete a six-month Mining Skills Program at the Centre in conjunction with Hunter TAFE. The program helps build valuable technical and life skills, including welding, electrical, automotive, financial awareness, health and nutrition, personal fitness, communication, and road safety awareness.
Apply online by submitting a resume and a cover letter outlining your interest in the role and why you would be a strong candidate for the Plant Mechanic Apprentice position.
