What you’ll do -

Whilst studying a Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical working with BlueScope over 4 years, you’ll have the opportunity to work on:

  • Rotate between departments throughout the entire steelmaking process
  • Read and interpret drawings and measure components
  • Mark out jobs, set up machines, prepare materials, tools and fixtures for machining
  • Maintain overhead cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, rollers, conveyers and gearboxes
  • Undertake machining operations, such as lathes, drilling, reaming, milling, grinding and boring
  • Assemble, maintain and repair equipment/machines

 

What we’re looking for -

  • Commitment to both on and off the job training for full term of the apprenticeship
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated interest in the mechanical trade
  • Ongoing commitment to safety, quality and principles of continuous improvement
  • Ability to commence in January 2027

Must-haves -

  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical (spirometry, audiometry, drug and alcohol screening, and functional capacity assessment)
