Based in the Hawkesbury/Hills region of Sydney, we supply compost (substrate) to the Australian mushroom industry. As industry leaders globally, we are the largest facility in the Southern Hemisphere and are committed to continual improvement and environmentally sustainable practises.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter (Team Leader) to join our Workshop & Maintenance team on a full-time permanent basis for the morning shift.

  • Start Early - 5am morning shift starts

  • Weekend Penalty Rates - Regular weekend shifts available (if desired)

  • Permanent Full Time - Financial stability & longevity

  • Lead a Skilled Trades Team - Tradespeople, Apprentices & Trade Assistants


Key Points of the Role:

  • Lead a safe, respectful and inclusive team environment, reinforcing strong safety behaviours every shift

  • Build a positive team culture that supports engagement, development and retention

  • Coordinate the maintenance team to deliver planned and breakdown work safely and efficiently

  • Coach and develop Trades, Apprentices, and Trade Assistants to build capability and confidence

  • Engage with team members to address concerns early and maintain morale

  • Provide clear direction, communication, and structured shift handovers

  • Manage performance fairly and consistently

  • Ensure all work is completed, signed off, and recorded accurately in the CMMS

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and contribute to continuous improvement

Role Requirements:

  • Mechanical trade qualification (e.g. Fitter & Turner or equivalent)

  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, industrial, or heavy industry maintenance

  • Proven experience leading or mentoring trades teams

  • Ability to build trust, develop people, and improve team engagement

  • Sound knowledge of WHS and safe work practices

  • CMMS experience preferred

  • Relevant tickets (Forklift, EWP, Confined Space, Working at Heights) advantageous
