Licensed Plumber / General Hand – FIFO 4:1

Groote Eylandt, NT
Remote. Rewarding. Unforgettable.

Looking for a role where your skills actually matter, your work is valued, and your “office view” might include tropical beaches instead of traffic lights?

Aminjarrinja Enterprises Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Licensed Plumber / General Hand to join our Repairs & Maintenance team on Groote Eylandt.

We are a proud Not-for-Profit, 100% Indigenous-owned organisation, delivering essential services and maintaining critical community infrastructure across the region.

This is not a “wait around” role—
Out here, something always needs fixing… and you’ll be the one making it happen.

About the Role

This is a multi-skilled, hands-on position combining licensed plumbing work with general maintenance and trade support functions.

You’ll operate across housing, facilities, and community infrastructure, taking ownership of both specialised plumbing tasks and broad maintenance responsibilities.

Roster: FIFO 4 weeks on / 1 week off
Reporting to: Supervisor / Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing (Primary Trade Function)

Diagnose and repair leaks, fixtures, toilets, basins, and pipework
Conduct fault finding and preventative maintenance
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and safe work practices

General Maintenance & Trade Support

Building maintenance (doors, locks, flyscreens, patching, painting)

Minor carpentry and repairs
Assist other trades and projects as required
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas

Operational Responsibilities

Work autonomously and within a team
Problem solve in a remote environment with limited resources
Engage respectfully within a community-focused workplace
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised worksite

What We’re Looking For

We’re after someone who is:

  • Practical, reliable, and solutions-focused

  • Trade-capable with strong plumbing experience

  • Comfortable stepping beyond their core trade when required

  • Able to work independently and adapt in a remote setting

  • A team player with a strong work ethic

Mandatory (Preferred):

  • Plumbing trade qualification / licence

Considered:

  • Experienced unlicensed candidates with strong practical capability

Highly Regarded (But Not Essential)

  • Welding and fabrication experience

  • HR licence

  • Remote or community-based maintenance experience

  • Broad building and property maintenance skills

Why Join Aminjarrinja?

Beyond the location—which speaks for itself—you’ll get:

  • A genuinely varied role (no two days are the same)

  • Salary sacrifice options

  • Modern accommodation provided

  • A supportive, down-to-earth team culture

  • Consistent, meaningful work in a stable organisation

  • A 6-day work week with time to explore an incredible environment

  • A workplace where your skills, initiative, and effort are recognised

And yes—you can legitimately say you work on a tropical island.

About Us

Ready to Apply?

If you’re a licensed plumber with strong all-round maintenance capability—or a highly capable multi-skilled tradesperson ready for a unique FIFO role—we want to hear from you.

Apply via SEEK with your resume and a short cover letter.

(Bonus points if you can fix a leaking tap and a gate hinge in the same day… but that’s pretty standard out here.)
