3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Carpenter – Residential Cladding & Carpentry

Melbourne Cladding Solutions is looking for a motivated apprentice carpenter to join our small carpentry team.

This role is ideally suited to a 3rd or 4th year apprentice carpenter who is ready to take the next step in their apprenticeship, develop strong carpentry skills, work outdoors, and become a valued part of a team that takes pride in doing things properly.

We are also open to applications from 1st and 2nd year apprentice carpenters who have the right attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in carpentry, cladding, and residential construction.

About Melbourne Cladding Solutions

Melbourne Cladding Solutions is a small carpentry team based in Diamond Creek, specialising in high-quality residential cladding and exterior carpentry.

We work on homes across Melbourne, helping clients repair, replace, and future-proof their properties with professional cladding, weatherboard replacement, exterior carpentry, and related building works.

Because we are a small team, no one is “just a number”. Every team member is supported, trained properly, and brought up to standard in an efficient and practical way. We take pride in developing apprentices who are reliable, skilled, safe, and capable of becoming strong long-term tradespeople.

Our team values pride in workmanship, reliability, honesty, initiative, safety, and a willingness to learn.

About the role

You will be working on residential carpentry and cladding projects across Melbourne, assisting with a variety of hands-on tasks including:

  • External cladding installation

  • Weatherboard replacement and repairs

  • Vapour barriers, flashings, and external building preparation

  • General carpentry and timber work

  • Decking, feature walls, and timber structures

  • Paint preparation, filling, sanding, and finishing preparation

  • Demolition and removal of old cladding or building materials

  • Site setup, pack-down, cleaning, and material handling

  • Safe use and care of hand tools and power tools

This role is suited to someone who enjoys practical work, being outdoors, solving problems, learning on site, and taking pride in a finished result.

The successful applicant must have:

  • A current driver’s licence

  • A reliable work ute, or be actively working towards obtaining one

  • Full working rights in Australia

  • A White Card, or willingness to obtain one if required

  • A strong work ethic and willingness to learn

  • Reliability, punctuality, and good communication skills

  • The ability to work well in a team environment

  • A safety-first attitude on site

The ideal candidate will:

  • Live in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs or Inner/Western Suburbs

  • Have capacity to carry company work gear and materials

  • Have previous carpentry, cladding, trade, or construction experience

  • Enjoy working outdoors and being physically active

  • Take pride in neat, accurate, high-quality workmanship

  • Be comfortable working with tools and solving practical problems

  • Be self-motivated while still taking direction well

  • Be coachable, respectful, and open to feedback

  • Show initiative and look for ways to help the crew

  • Want to build a long-term career in carpentry

What we offer:

  • Supportive small-team environment

  • Hands-on training and development

  • Practical, efficient training to help you reach our company standard

  • Vehicle allowance for eligible vehicles

  • Travel allowance or fuel card, depending on eligibility and role requirements

  • Clearly outlined KPI expectations

  • KPI bonus opportunities

  • Consistent work with a growing Melbourne-based business

  • Opportunity to develop strong carpentry and cladding skills

  • A workplace where your effort, attitude, and improvement are noticed

  • Long-term growth opportunities, including a potential pathway toward crew leader after completing your apprenticeship

What we expect

We are looking for someone who understands that reliability, attitude, and safety matter.

In the early stages, we focus heavily on punctuality, communication, safe work habits, willingness to learn, and taking feedback on board. As you progress, we expect you to develop initiative, think ahead, prepare tools and materials, work efficiently with the crew, and take ownership of your role on site.

You do not need to know everything from day one, but you do need to show up ready, listen, learn, improve, and take pride in your work.

Why join Melbourne Cladding Solutions?

This is a great opportunity for an apprentice who wants more than just a job.

You will be joining a small, focused team where your development matters, your work is noticed, and your attitude makes a difference. You will receive practical on-site training, clear expectations, and the opportunity to build real skills in residential carpentry and cladding.

If you are reliable, hands-on, willing to learn, and looking for a team where you can grow properly, we would like to hear from you.

To apply

Please submit your resume and a short cover letter outlining:

  • Your current apprenticeship year level

  • Any previous carpentry, cladding, trade, or construction experience

  • Where you are based

  • Your driver’s licence status

  • Whether you currently have access to a suitable work ute

  • Why you think you would be a good fit for Melbourne Cladding Solutions
