As a result of continuous national growth, LAI Group are seeking a Metal Fabrication Welder with either first class or second-class skills to join our team at our manufacturing plant in Adelaide (Ferryden Park) and our new Structural Steel site at Direk. Schedule:

Full Time position: Monday – Friday & with overtime.

Wages / Salary

$75,000.00pa to $80,000.00pa exclusive of superannuation.

The Position

A Metal Fabricator Welder at LAI Group will be required to read and interpret drawings and assist in welding sheet-metal frames for switchboards or other electrical distributors, or large structural steel frames. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot structures to identify and initiate repair of welding defects.

  • Employ appropriate welding methods in completing metal and structural fabrications.

  • Interpret technical drawings to layout the framework of a structure.

  • Secure and fasten components using clamps, braces, jacks, and bolt straps.

  • Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defect and conform to standards and specifications.

The Candidate

The appropriate candidate will have the ability to understand and interpret welding specifications autonomously. They should be able to identify any issues or concerns and rectify it prior to the next stage.

The successful applicant will preferably have:

  • Commitment to safe work practices

  • Good attention to detail

  • Problem solving skills

  • Have MIG welding experience

  • Welder who has experience in fabrication and welding of steel

Desired Competencies

  • Certificate 3 in Engineering (Desirable, not a necessity) 

  • High Risk Work Licenses – LF Forklift License
