WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

As a senior workshop leader, you’ll play a key role in maintaining high technical standards, driving productivity and supporting the Branch Manager in day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on role with a clear balance of responsibilities:
  • Approximately 70% hands-on technical work - diagnostics, repairs, servicing and complex problem-solving
  • Approximately 30% leadership and workshop support - mentoring, workflow coordination and supporting performance standards
You’ll act as the link between management and the workshop team, ensuring quality workmanship, efficiency and a positive team culture.
  
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES (MAJORITY OF ROLE):
  • Perform advanced diagnostics across a wide range of vehicles
  • Carry out repairs and servicing to a high professional standard
  • Complete work efficiently within allocated labour times
  • Accurately document findings, required parts, and recommendations
  • Conduct final quality checks where required
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organised work practices
  • Support complex problem-solving and provide guidance to other technicians
  LEADERSHIP & WORKSHOP SUPPORT:
  • Assist with daily workflow, scheduling, and workshop coordination
  • Monitor and support productivity and efficiency targets
  • Help manage comebacks and uphold quality control standards
  • Contribute to team performance reviews and development
  • Step into the Branch Manager role when required
  • Assist with stock control and workshop organisation
  • Mentor apprentices and junior technicians
  • Provide hands-on training and identify skill development opportunities
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Trade-qualified Automotive Technician (Cert III Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)
  • 5+ years’ industry experience
  • Strong diagnostic skills (electrical and mechanical)
  • Proven ability to mentor and support a team
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Current driver’s licence
