About the Role

 

 We are seeking a passionate Grounds Officer to maintain and enhance the outdoor aesthetic of our properties across the Central precincts: Fitzroy North, Altona, Whittlesea and Donvale.

 

As a Grounds Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and visual appeal of TLC Healthcare facilities.  You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the outdoor aesthetic of all TLC properties. This includes tasks such as mowing lawns, planting flowers and trees, pruning shrubs, and maintaining irrigation systems. Grounds officers also handle tasks like weeding, applying fertiliser, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and operating landscaping equipment.

 

This hands-on role is essential in ensuring our environment remains safe, attractive, and well-maintained for residents, visitors, and staff.

 

Hours of work

This is a full-time, ongoing role working Monday to Friday and possible occasional out of hours work. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain gardens and outdoor spaces including mowing, pruning, planting, mulching, and fertilising
  • Weed control, pest and disease management
  • Maintain irrigation systems and landscaping areas
  • Perform general grounds maintenance including gutter cleaning and pressure washing
  • Identify and address hazards, including trip risks and overgrown vegetation
  • Assist with minor maintenance works, paving repairs, and landscaping improvements
  • Monitor and report on the condition of trees, infrastructure, and equipment
  • Ensure equipment and vehicles are safe, serviced, and maintained
  • Support emergency response procedures and maintenance tasks when required
  • Work safely, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and maintaining clean work areas

 

About You

You are a proactive and hands-on individual with a passion for maintaining high-quality outdoor environments. You enjoy working independently as well as part of a team.

 

To be successful, you will have:

  • Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture
  • Knowledge of plant care, fertilisers, and safe chemical handling
  • Ability to operate and maintain gardening equipment and machinery
  • Strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements
  • A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities

 

 

Compliance Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications
  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations (3 doses)   
  • 2026 Influenza vaccination
  • NDIS Check (includes Police Clearance)   
  • Working with Children Check
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia  
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
