An opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Senior Body Builder to join our team on a full-time basis at our Wangara depot.

 

About the Role

As a Senior Body Builder, you will be a key member of our workshop team, responsible for delivering high-quality vehicle body construction, modification, and repair work. This hands-on role is suited to someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship and enjoys seeing projects through from concept to completion.

You will play an important role in the construction of new fleet vehicles, ongoing fleet maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires a strong understanding of body building, fabrication, and schematic interpretation, along with the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible overtime opportunities available.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the construction and fit-out of new fleet vehicles and equipment

  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the fleet

  • Interpret, follow, modify, and create schematics for new builds and custom projects

  • Take ownership of fleet build projects from concept through to completion

  • Mentor and support apprentices, maintaining a ratio of one apprentice per tradesperson

  • Assist in developing team capability, workshop standards, and best practices

  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard

  • Identify and implement improvements to fleet reliability and workshop processes

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation where required

  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture throughout the workshop


About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Fully qualified Body Builder trade certification

  • Extensive experience in vehicle body building and fleet construction

  • Strong ability to read, interpret, modify, and develop schematics and technical drawings

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor apprentices and help shape a high-performing team

  • Excellent problem-solving and fabrication skills

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • A proactive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
