About the role
AUTO PLUS WRECKERS is seeking an experienced Parts Interpreter to join our team in Maddington, WA on a full-time basis. This is a crucial position within our automotive wrecking and recycling operation, where you will serve as the vital link between our inventory, customers, and technical teams. As a Parts Interpreter, you will be responsible for identifying, cataloguing, and sourcing automotive components with precision and expertise. Your role is essential to ensuring customers receive the correct parts and that our inventory is accurately managed and efficiently utilised.
Key responsibilities
Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers with parts enquiries
Identify and interpret automotive parts from wrecked vehicles using technical manuals, diagrams, and catalogues
Verify part specifications, condition, and compatibility with customer requirements and vehicle models
Prepare accurate parts quotations, receive and process customer orders, and source and order parts through PartsCheck to meet customer requirements.
Respond to customer enquiries regarding part availability, pricing, and suitability for their vehicles
Cross-reference parts across multiple vehicle models to identify suitable alternatives and maximise inventory value
Collaborate with dismantlers and recovery teams to prioritise which components should be removed and processed
Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and safety regulations in parts handling and storage
Utilise computerised parts management systems and databases to log, track, and retrieve component information
Inspect and grade parts for quality, damage, and functionality before cataloguing
Support the sales team by providing technical guidance on parts specifications and compatibility
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Specialist, or similar role within the automotive or wrecking industry
Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, components, and systems across various makes and models
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, parts diagrams, and automotive catalogues (such as Hollander or similar systems)
Competency with computer systems and parts management software
Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail
Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and suppliers
Ability to work independently and make accurate technical decisions
Physical capability to work in a wrecking yard environment, including lifting and moving components
Relevant qualifications in automotive studies, parts identification, or related trade qualifications (preferred)
Current driver's licence (preferred)
